TIPS TO SUCCESSFULLY WORK FROM HOME
Hey friends! I hope everyone is doing well. Let’s be honest, working from home can be amazing or incredibly unproductive if you don’t set yourself up for success. Personally, my normal daily commute into the office can be a bit tiresome, so I’ve always loved working from home. That said, the hardest parts about working from home are the distractions. I can look around and think about so many other things I can be doing instead of working. Working from home does take self-discipline but there are plenty of things that you can do to help maintain your productivity. Here are a few things you can start with: SET A MORNING ROUTINE
A good morning routine can set your entire day up for success. Create a morning routine you love and stick to it. Get up at the same time each day, have your devotional or quiet-time, make your coffee and get to it. GET DRESSED
Let’s be honest, if I don’t have to get dressed, it is low-priority on my personal to-do list. However, day after day in your pj’s can make you feel super lazy. Taking a shower and getting dressed for the day signals your brain that you have work to do and can put you in the mindset for getting things done. Get dressed, wash your face, show up. DESIGNATE A WORKSPACE
Not everyone has a home office, and that’s okay! But it’s helpful to designate a place in your home as your “office,” and it shouldn’t be your bed or couch. If you don’t have a dedicated work space, your entire house can easily end up becoming the work space. Maybe you work better with music, background tv, or silence. Light a candle and get into the productive zone. MAKE A TO-DO LIST
Making a to-do list each morning will help make the day feel and look less overwhelming. Prioritize by the most important, and cross off as you go along. This will help you stay on track, focused, and accountable. TAKE BREAKS
Breaks can be extremely helpful if you work from home! Take 5-10 minute breaks when you feel your mind start to wander. Go for a walk or go stretch. And don’t skimp on your lunch break! Give yourself a full hour to eat lunch and whatever else you want to do, even catch up on a Netflix show. That is the beauty of being at home, after all! When you return to your workspace with fresh eyes, you will be so much more productive. END YOUR WORKDAY
Set a time to stop working! Unwinding at the end of the day is so important. Just because you’re working from home, doesn’t mean your work-life balance should unravel. Try to stick to a schedule and recognize that you may not accomplish every task each day. Get to the rest tomorrow! Sending you prayers of health and safety, positive vibes, and some fun to keep your spirits high. Xo, Jessica
